The Villas at Heritage Pointe

By Shelly A. Schneider

The location is Wentzville, but the style is reminiscent of the St. Louis Hills area. Huneke Homes presents Heritage Pointe Villas, located near an abundance of shopping and just one mile from Hwy. 40 and Interstate 70. Tom Huneke, president, Huneke Homes said the villas are unlike anything else in Wentzville. “We feature hipped roofs as opposed to gabled roofs,” Huneke said. “That alone makes the homes appear to be further apart. The slopes above the front porch are steeper than normal…ours are 18 feet up and 12 feet over. We also use shadow board, which most builders don’t use. Shadow board is underneath the fascia board, and when you look at the front of the home, the shadow board makes the gingerbread and other woodwork really stand out.” Heritage Pointe Villas also have two-foot returns on the overhangs, and feature full brick fronts with stone. The stone is multi-colored, not simply gray. Some of the elevations feature wing walls that extend from the garage and include columns and arches. These aren’t your ordinary villas. “There are 15 different elevations from which to choose,” Huneke said. “All of the elevations are shown on our web site, www.HunekeHomes.com.”

The interiors, Huneke said, are just as unique as the exteriors.

“We’re doing something very different,” he said. “We start the vault at the front porch, so when you walk through the front door, you’re already at a 9.5-foot ceiling, and the centerline is 13.5 feet,” he explained. “We use a lot of plant shelves. We have a lot of geometry going on throughout the interior of the home with the plant shelves and angled walls.” There’s something Huneke Homes does that no one else does. “We have a unique inverted vault,” Huneke said. “No one else in the United States has the same system. The roof and the ceiling slope are parallel. The peak of the inverted vault is 13.5 feet above the floor. It gives you very, very tall windows in the back of the house.” One of the displays features a castle roof with a three-sided bay in the breakfast room. There is a round coffered ceiling in that area, and that’s something else only Huneke Homes can offer.

“We put indirect lighting inside our coffers, we offer a central speaker system for background music and under cabinet lighting, too,” Huneke said. “We also finish off the lower levels. The units are 1440 square feet, and the finished basement adds 850 square feet, bringing the total living space to 2290 square feet, three bedrooms and three bathrooms.”

Heritage Pointe Villas have beautiful upgraded kitchen cabinets and nice General Electric appliances. The marble surround in the master bath is included in the base price, as is the seat in the shower. The subdivision is brand new, and the lots are extra large. Prices at Heritage Pointe Villas start at $185,000, but if customers buy before the display is complete the starting price is just $179,500. To find the subdivision, travel west on I-70 to the Wentzville Parkway. Turn north and travel for one mile. Heritage Pointe Villas are on the left. Finished displays may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at Shepherds Hill in St. Peters. Take the tour online at www.HunekeHomes.com, or call for a personal tour at (636) 447-7797.
